Your
wedding transportation is another
key element to your wedding. Remember you may
need transportation for the Bride, Groom, all
the parents, the wedding party, and maybe even
other wedding guests. You may need transportation
to the wedding ceremony, to the location of the
photo shoot, to the reception, and maybe even to a hotel or to
the airport after the reception. Make a list of your transportation
needs, listing who will need transportation and
to where they will need to go. Then you will be able to book the
appropriate transportation needed. Book your
special transportation, including limousines,
at least 9 to 12 months in advance. Summer and Fall Saturdays
book very quickly.
If you are looking to save some money
on the transportation cost you may wish to arrange
to have your special transportation for a shorter
period of time. You may want to hire the transportation
for special photos or to take you to only one or two locations.
If you do this, just confirm that you have alternate transportation
to get everyone home if needed.
Wedding transportation
companies are all different. Be sure to go directly to the company
or place where the cars are kept to check them out. You can see
how well the cars are maintained and how much wear and tear the
cars have on them. Make sure it is clear that you are looking
at the actual limousine that will be rented on
your wedding day. Check for any advertising lettering
on the vehicles. If there is, ask if it is just
cling printed and if it can be easily removed on your wedding
day. Remember you are not only using their vehicles
you are also using their service. Finding someone professional
and dependable is just as important as what they are driving.
If you know someone with an antique or
classic car that you like they maybe pleased
to have the honour of driving you around on your wedding
day. If you do use someone personal car be sure to be considerate
and shake off before getting into any cars if you are covered
in confetti, rice or birdseed. You may even want to ask if you
can use their vehicle in your wedding photos.
Horse and buggies are
very romantic but keep in mind that our weather can be unpredictable.
A covered wagon will reduce the risk of getting soaked on your
wedding day if it rains.
Some transportation providers
have buses and large SUVs for
wedding parties available for rent. Some of these
are done up like a fancy hotel room with a bar, couches, and a
big screen television. This is a way of transporting all the wedding
party and even family together.
Don't assume your special transportation
vehicles can be decorated. Tape can damage paint
and most vehicle owners have restrictions about
this. If you would like to tie a sign to someone's vehicle
be sure to ask their permission and get detailed instructions
to how and where on the vehicle to tie the sign
or give the sign to them to put on if they don't mind.
Some Brides and Grooms
arrange for a taxi to be available for a couple of hours towards
the end of the wedding reception incase anyone is unable to drive
do to drinking alcohol. Another thing you can do is have a list
of the local taxi phone numbers available to your wedding
guests so they can call one for themselves. You don't want your
special day to end tragically.
