How Honeymoons
Got Started
The
word honeymooncomes from ancient times when Teuton
couples would get married under a full moon and
they drank honey for thirty days after the wedding.
Today a honeymoon is more like a couple's private
celebration and a time to wind down after a long and well worth
journey that brought your lives together. Some wedding
couples decide to go far away to an exotic place while others
stay closer to home. Either way, a romantic holiday is a wonderful
way to complete your wedding plans.
Staying Close
to Home for Your Honeymoon
If
you are staying in a hotel close by for your wedding
night, a nice idea is to have one of your wedding
attendants drop off a basket for you to enjoy later together.
Fill it with treats, chocolates, snacks, massage oil, glasses
and champagne. Everything you might need for a little private
romantic celebration after the main event. This may be a good
time to have your overnight bags delivered so they will be waiting
there for you. Then they will not be forgotten in someone's car
or at home with all the commotion of the day.
Gifts
for Each Other
If you have decided to give gifts to one another you may wish
to save them for your first breakfast as newlyweds,
making your first day extra special.
Making Honeymoon
Reservations
If you're the type of people who like to know things are taken
care of and want to know exactly where you are going on your honeymoon,
we would suggest that you book your honeymoon
reservations early. Some couples are more adventurous and don't
really care where they
end up as long as they are together. These couples feel more comfortable
waiting for the last minute traveling deals. We do suggest that
if you are planning to leave the country that
you make sure you have your passports well in advance. You may
also need immunizations if you are traveling to some parts of
the world. Talking to a travel agent is always a good place to
start when planning your honeymoon.
Packing for Your Honeymoon
The
items you pack for your wedding honeymoon
truly depend on your destination, the agenda and your personal
needs. Use common sense when packing and think about all the things
you will be doing on your trip and what you will need for each
event. You can even get Bride and Groom
attire like hats and T-shirts that make things a little more fun
on your wedding honeymoon. These are great if
you want the world to know your newlyweds. To
the right is a list of some more practical items you might need
on your honeymoon to get you started packing.
